Elders from Peru

Julia Condori

At 5,000 meters altitude, at -10 degrees Celsius, Julia Condorf performs multiple magics: she can spend weeks herding her alpacas and sheep alone in the fertile void of the snow-capped Ausangate. At night, she has even confronted, with her own uterine courage, stalking pumas that learn to respect her with a wild reciprocity.

At the same time, she weaves the formidable, empowered, and living textiles of the Turpo lineage, with the vibrant symbology of her ancestors. And, together with her husband Rufino, she conserves, performs, and keeps vital and life-giving the initiatory knowledge of interaction with the forces of Mother Earth.

Rufino Turpo

Rufino is considered a master of 'munayniyoq': the great power and wisdom of love, an Andean master bearer of the mysterious lineage of the guardians of Ausangate and the Turpo family. He has agreed to reveal, transmit, and pass on to us the mythical force that his ancestors have sown in these sacred lands.

Son of Nazario and grandson of Mariano Turpo, Altomisayogs and great spiritual leaders of the Andean tradition. Rufino is 50 years old and has preserved the wisdom of his lineage with great simplicity, admiration, and attention. Together with his wife and priestess Julia Condorf, they will be the ones to transmit their ancestral knowledge to us.
